Jonathan & Janine – Belfast Castle

December 18th, 2011

Janine and Jonathan are a great couple. Was a really interesting day – with Janine being from just up the road, and Jonathan being American. Both are now living in the US. 23Nov was a great day – here’s a few photos, starting at the hairdressers:

Then over to the bride’s house:

Let’s meet the groom:

Love the next one at Belfast Castle:

Love the next one too:

One of the groomsmen was a bit over-enthusiastic :-) :-)

Lots of smiles! Thats the impression we got from the photos while editing them this week – lots of people enjoying themselves! The weather was very kind for this time of year – and lots of lovely wee details. Oh, and the first wedding with a Fiat 500 as the wedding car!

Alf & Ruth’s Wedding – Dunadry Hotel

November 30th, 2011

Great day with Ruth & Alf! Lovely couple, great weather – everyone was in great form!

Let’s start with a verse printed in Alf & Ruth’s invite, words that are always good to be reminded of:

“God can do anything, you know -

far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!

He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us,

his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”

Ephesians 3:20 (The Message)

Ok, so for a few photos!! Starting with the brides preparations:

The flowergirl sure wasn’t shy :-)

Love the next one:

Below – the look says it all!

The Paparazzi :-)

Now to the Dunadry…

Gary & Janet – Mountstewart and Malone Lodge Hotel

November 29th, 2011

My two lasting memories from Janet & Gary’s wedding was the banter (was great craic!) and ofcourse the red shoes (back to rehab for me :-) )

Great couple. I’ll talk you through the day – starting with the bride’s house and the Father of the Bride’s jacket…

A wee bit of lens flare just to ‘art’ it up a bit!
Now to the Temple of the Winds at Mount Stewart. Its an awesome venue, and the geek side of me still loves the window / door which slides downwards into the ground (below left)…

Think these next two photos sum up the couple pretty well…

After that, we headed down to Mount Stewart for a few photos.

Then back over to Belfast to the Malone Lodge, starting with a wee bridesmaid pic!

The theme was autumn / Halloween. loving the love shaped pumpkin…

Craig & Katy – Malone Golf Club

November 26th, 2011

Craig & Katy’s wedding was a fun day at a new location. I’ll talk  you through it – starting with some nice details and of course the dog.

Love the wedding stationary. The design carried through to kilt pins and everything. Impressed! :-)

The view from Katy’s parents home is beautiful…as was the bride!

Now for a few photos around the golf course. I got a sail on the back of one of these – was as happy as a pig in mud :-)

Nice food styling!

And I’ll leave you with this wee photo. My idea was to frame it with the wood pillars from the veranda but couldn’t get it all in. A wee bit of photoshop helped me out! The verse was part of the wedding ceremony…

Meet Kelly…

November 19th, 2011

Last week I shared the first of my ‘winter projects’. The first few of these projects are all aimed at delighting our customers – in other words making sure that I not only take great photographs, but that we deliver albums, prints etc in a timely manner. It’s easier said than done, so I’ve decided to take on a member of staff….

Meet Kelly, my new staff member. Kelly will be doing all sorts of things around here, from editing weddings to showing portrait customers their pictures. She’s also a talented photographer, so will be handy for two-photographer weddings!

Gordon & Claire – Ballymascanlon House Hotel

November 14th, 2011

Claire & Gordon’s wedding was exactly a month ago today – and it was a class day. You might remember them from their engagement shoot on the blog a while back. It was a really fun, relaxed day – with lots of smiles and laughs.

So, here’s a few photos:

Below: looks like a great book!

After the service in Armagh, we headed to the Ballymascanlon Hotel. It really is a great spot…

Love the next few:

Added a wee drop of grain to the next one. No reason why, just for the craic!

Colm & Grainne

Had a bit of a blast at Colm & Grainne’s wedding! Was great..Arrived at the house in the morning and it was properly pouring down – but by the time we got to the Ballygally it had cleared up nicely for some beach pictures.

Here’s a few photos:

Love the next few:

Just keeping an eye on the photographer…

About the only photo Grainne and Colm actually asked me for:

And to finish off with, a few nice bride photos:

Welcome to Winter – The Winter Projects

November 8th, 2011

As the wedding season ends, it’s always great to take some time to reflect. 2011 was our busiest year yet – I had a ball doing all the weddings and lots of other fun stuff. It was also the year of the big move into Belfast.

I sat down the other day in a nice wee coffee shop called ‘The Cosy Chair’ and wrote down a number of winter projects – things I want to do to make things even better. Some of the projects are tiny and easy, some are much more time consuming and difficult. Some are very exciting, some are a bit boring! Basically, no area of the business is untouched – so I thought it would be interesting to blog some of the changes – it might give you a good insight into the company and what makes us tick.

One of the biggest things I’m focussing on is customer service. In the midst of all the 2011 weddings, it was really difficult to keep up, respond to emails quickly, get albums delivered on time etc. So my first few winter projects are all about improving that so our 2012 customers have an awesome experience.

The first wee project around this was dead easy – the second one much more tricky (I’ll blog that one later in the week – but its very big for us!).

So this week we welcomed the Peter Thomas whiteboard to the studio. No more lost emails, electronic todo lists – they just don’t work. At a glance we can now see what needs done! Wohoo! As per usual my DIY skills weren’t too good, so it might not be totally straight :-) . I have already found the immense satisfaction of wiping something of it! Feels so good!

So there you go – the first winter project complete. As Tesco say – ‘every little helps’…

Andrew & Dianna – Solis Lough Eske

November 5th, 2011

I was pretty excited about my first trip to Lough Eske – really is a beautiful venue (so nice I’ve booked a wee weekend away there!). I did an engagement shoot a while back with Andrew & Dianna which was good craic – so was looking forward to the day!

Here’s a few photos:

Thought the flowergirl dress was kinda cute :-)

Now to Lough Eske:

Love the next one:

The mother of the bride having a sneak peak out the door :-)

These look pretty lovely:

I realise I’ve posted a pic of this bow already – but really like it!
