The survey was sent to 80 recent wedding customers and the response rate was about 60% – a reasonably good sample. The survey was completed online and anonymously to ensure customers felt free to give honest answers.

With any survey, there is really only one question that matters. If your customers are happy to recommend you, your doing a good job. I asked ‘How likely are you to recommend Peter Thomas Photography?’. (Very likely, Quite likely, Not Likely, Very unlikely)

When asked how satisfied our customers were with their album, more than 97% said they rated it ‘excellent’. The other 3% said they rated it ‘Good’

What I learned

Overall the survey was really positive and I was delighted. My customers also gave us some great feedback, and areas for future growth and improvement. Of course, customer feedback is useless unless you actually change for the better, so here are a few things I have implemented since the survey, based entirely on customer feedback.

1. I have much improved my pre-wedding consultations. I now provide a list of photographs and have a more detailed discussion around the photographs desired. This has been well received by new customers.
2. I now take more photographs which suit framing. Close-up, romantic type shots – plenty of stuff to fill our new selection of frames.
3. Improved posing of brides. The photographs haven’t changed, but I’ve improved how I direct the bride and group photographs.

Its important not to become complacent – so if you have ever got any feedback just let me know!

Peter is also a Licentiate of the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (SWPP).

Browse to the client area on our website. Find your wedding, and click the ‘View the album’ link. On the right you will notice a ‘share this on Facebook’ link. Click that and the rest should be obvious – a link and picture will be posted on your Facebook wall.

If you have a video in your client area – you can also share that. Click the ‘View video’ link and you’ll see the same ‘Share on facebook’ link!

We’ve also made numerous little improvements and fixes to our website. Thanks to everyone who made suggestions. One of the most obvious changes is in the ‘Show all photographs’ section of each wedding  - there’s now a handy page dropdown making it easier to find the image you want. For all you Apple fans, the website is now fully compatible with the latest version of Safari.

All of our reprints are printed by a professional lab – and each one is individually retouched and colour corrected to ensure the highest quality possible.

We can now also accept credit card payments for all purchases up to £400. You can use this facility over the phone or in our office.

Update: version 1.1 is now live – you can now choose the colour of photograph (black and white etc) and we added a comments field.

Update: 05/04/2009 –  version 1.2 added canvas prints and fixed some silly issues with Internet Explorer.

Fabio and Nicola

Fabio and Nicola from Belfast entered our competition at the Kings Hall Wedding Fayre. Little did they realise that they would win our Diamond Package! The prize includes a storybook album and 4 parent books.
