For a while now we’ve been wanting to add a fine-art style photography session to our list of services. Fine-art photography is timeless, beautiful and stylish. Everyone defines ‘fine-art’ in a different way, but for us it’s about slightly muted tones, classic backgrounds and simple props. If you google fine-art portraits you are likely to come across lots of non-smiling kids. While that is beautiful, we also want to include your child’s personality in our photographs, hence ‘fine-art style’.
‘Fine art style’ photography doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, so what should we call this new service? In the end we settled on ‘Children of Belfast’. Now don’t worry if you are from beyond Belfast – all our welcome, but we wanted to call it something we could grow and add to over time. This is just the beginning! Keep an eye out for Dogs of Belfast soon!
So what do you wear to a Children of Belfast shoot?
This photographic style suits a slightly dressier approach. For girls, a nice dress is perfect. What my parents would have called ‘the Sunday best!’. Bare foot is perfect too – and feel free to include a teddy or vintage toy.
For boys, a wee shirt, dungarees or even a bow tie is fantastic. We’d just avoid big logos, trainers or anything that looks too modern.
For now our Children of Belfast shoots are for kids 1yr and older, indeed they work as well for a 1yr old as an 18yr old! They are 30min, mid-week sessions. Book here today.
